In this challenge, students will investigate the similarities between the width of modern railroad tracks and the width of Roman chariots. How was the width of Rail determined? Who determined it, and what previous vehicles caused this sizing to be used? Draw conclusions about the similarities and differences between railroad tracks and Roman roads and explain why the width of horses millennia ago determined the sizing of large objects still in use today.
